Holy Cross edges New Hampshire 62-58 to end six-game skid (Dec 09, 2017)
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) Austin Butler came off the bench to score 16 points, making 4 of 7 from 3-point range, and Matt Zignorski hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 17 seconds for his only points of the game as Holy Cross held off New Hampshire 62-58 on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak.
Caleb Green hit three 3-pointers and scored 12, Karl Charles added 10 points and five assists and Jehyve Floyd had nine points and nine rebounds for the Crusaders (3-6).
Holy Cross topped the Wildcats (2-8) despite being outrebounded 49-30 and shooting just 50 percent (7 of 14) at the free-throw line.
Tanner Leissner finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds for New Hampshire, while Jordan Reed scored 16 and Iba Camara chipped in with nine points and 14 boards.
Holy Cross led by just three points before Butler nailed a 3-pointer and followed that with a 3-point play to push the lead to 37-28 with 13:04 left to play.
Reed scored 12 straight points - all on 3-pointers - to pull the Wildcats within 44-41 with 5:31 remaining. But New Hampshire misfired on three straight 3-pointers and Holy Cross made just enough free throws down the stretch to hold on.
