Jacksonville hits 15 treys, tops NCCAA Trinity Baptist 84-45

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Darius Dawkins scored 18 points - making a career-best six 3-point shots - as Jacksonville defeated Trinity Baptist of the NCCAA 84-45 Tuesday night.

A half-dozen Dolphins combined to make 15 3-pointers (in 31 attempts) to tie a program record set in December 2003.

Kori Babineaux scored 15 points for the Dolphins (8-9). J.R. Holder had 12 points, and Darien Fernandez added 11 points with six assists and five steals.

Brandon Tucker led the Eagles with 11 points and seven rebounds. Trinity Baptist's 45 points was the lowest score by a Jacksonville opponent since 2012, when Trinity Baptist was held to 48 points by Jacksonville.

The Eagles shot 26 percent (15-58).

Jacksonville had eight blocked shots and 10 steals against the Eagles, owned a 44-33 edge in rebounding and shot 52 percent (30-58).
