Johnson scores 35 as La Salle sneaks by Florida Gulf Coast (Dec 17, 2016)
PHILADELPHIA (AP) B.J. Johnson scored a career-high 35 points, including the exclamation point dunk in the final seconds, and La Salle came back to beat Florida Gulf Coast 84-80 on Saturday.
Johnson finished 10 of 16 from the field, 12 of 14 at the line, and had four steals. Jordan Price added 16 points for the Explorers (5-4).
La Salle trailed for large portions of the second half until a late 8-0 run, capped by a pair of Price baskets, gave the Explorers a 78-74 lead with 48 seconds left. A Rayjon Tucker jumper for the Eagles (7-5) cut it to 82-80, but Johnson's jam with six seconds left iced it.
Brandon Goodwin led Florida Gulf Coast with 26 points, while Tucker added 23.
The Eagles were without redshirt senior Marc-Eddy Norelia, who did not travel with the team for personal reasons. Norelia also missed the first four games of the year with a broken hand.
