Kavas scores 27, Seattle beats Detroit Mercy 102-71 (Nov 18, 2017)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Matej Kavas scored 27 points with seven 3-pointers, Jordan Hill added 17 points, and Seattle used a 3-point barrage to beat Detroit Mercy 102-71 on Saturday in the first of two games in the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project Nashville Subregional.

Aaron Menzies scored 16 points with 10 rebounds, Josh Hearlihy added 16 points with seven assists, and the Redhawks (2-2) shot 65 percent from 3-point range (15 of 23) to the Titans' 19 percent (3 of 16).

Morgan Means, Hearlihy and Kavas each hit 3s to open the second half and the Redhawks scored nine unanswered points while the Titans went scoreless for more than four minutes. Seattle led 75-53 after a 3 by Kavas with 8:09 left to play. Hill and Kavas each hit 3s in a 15-2 run in the final 3:08.

Jaleel Hogan scored six straight points and the Titans led 14-5, but Hill and Richaud Gittens hit back-to-back 3s to spark a 16-3 run and Seattle pulled away. The Titans closed to 35-34 on Jermain Jackson's free throw, but Menzies made a 3-point play, Hearlihy hit another 3 and Seattle led 49-40 at halftime.

Corey Allen led the Titans (1-2) with 18 points.
