Ky Howard with 20 points, NJIT beats Boston University 90-76
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Ky Howard had 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists and NJIT rolled to a 90-76 victory over Boston University on Thursday night.
Howard scored 14 points in the second half, and finished 6 of 12 from the floor. Tim Coleman, Damon Lynn, and Winfield Willis added 17 points apiece for the Highlanders (2-1), who have won consecutive games since losing their opener to Kentucky on November 14. Terrence Smith added 11 points.
John Papale scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead BU (1-2). Kyle Foreman had 17 points and Will Goff added 11 points.
Nathan Dieudonne made a 3-pointer for BU before the Highlanders closed on a 6-0 spurt to take a 38-31 halftime lead. A 10-2 run stretched the Highlanders led to 70-60, and a 7-0 surge made it 81-66 with three minutes left.
It was the first meeting between the schools.
