In the preseason, Dieng had a couple of great outings rebounding the basketball and giving his teammates opportunities to score. Minnesota has a plethora of young talent on their roster, therefore they are definitely a team to watch throughout the 2016-2017 season.

Final Score and Stat Line:

1 2 3 4 T
Timberwolves 32 27 16 23 98
Grizzlies 29 21 26 26 102

Gorgui Dieng: 34 minutes, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 12 points

Discussion:

I would have to argue that Gorgui Dieng was the player of the game for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Even though they weren’t able to get the victory tonight, he had one of the best performances between both teams.

He led both teams in rebounds and was the only player on the Timberwolves who was able to attain a double-double on the evening.

The game went back-and-forth all night, but the Grizzlies were able to pull away late. It wasn’t the start to the 2016-2017 season that Minnesota had hoped for, but Gorgui Dieng should be very pleased with his own performance. If he is able to dominate the glass like he did against Memphis, then Dieng could be looking at a huge season.

To make it even better Louisville fans, he out-rebounded former Kentucky Wildcat Karl Anthony-Towns.
