Louisville Basketball: Checking in on Trey Lewis in Germany
Former Louisville basketball player Trey Lewis has started his professional career over in Germany and we are taking a look at how he is doing so far.
The Louisville basketball product won the hearts of Cardinals’ fans last season after he and fellow Senior Damion Lee played their hearts out in the Yum Center. Even though they came to Louisville to make the NCAA tournament, the school unfortunately chose to sit out the 2015-2016 tournament because of pending NCAA sanctions.
He and Damion Lee still played hard every game and showed everyone watching what great character they have. Even though Lewis couldn’t make his NBA dream a reality yet, he was able to sign with Medi Bayreuth over in Germany this past offseason.
Through the team’s first three games, Lewis is proving that he is the best player on the entire roster. Here are his stats according to the league’s official website:
18.7 points per game (team leader)
2.3 assists per game (3rd on team)
9/18 from three (team leader in 3’s made)
32.2 minutes per game (team leader)
They are currently sitting with a 2-1 record after winning their last two straight games. It looks as though Lewis is showing why he should be one of the better players in that league so far this season. Maybe it will turn the heads of a few NBA scouts or maybe not. However, there is a place in professional basketball for Trey Lewis.
There have been many former Louisville basketball players that have made a nice career overseas and it looks like Lewis is going to be just fine over in Germany.
