A deep 3-pointer with more than 20 seconds on the shot clock likely isn't what Louisville had in mind. No one in the KFC Yum! Center could have expected that play to end with this incredible one-handed, putback dunk from freshman guard Donovan Mitchell.
The 6-foot-3 guard, as you can see, is one of the most explosive players in all of college basketball. He exploded onto the scene in July 2014, racking up offer after offer on the AAU circuit and skyrocketing up recruiting rankings. He committed to Louisville at the beginning of August.
Mitchell ended the first half with nine points, more than halfway to the career high he set against Wake Forest in the ACC opener on Jan. 3
