Luke propels Belmont to 90-77 win over Seattle U (Nov 19, 2017)
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Austin Luke sank 8 of 10 from 3-point range and scored a career-high 26 points to help lead Belmont to a 90-77 victory over Seattle University in the 2K Classic on Saturday.
Luke came into the game averaging 3.5 points per game this season. Amanze Egekeze hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 for the Bruins (4-1), who shot 59.3 percent from the floor (32 of 54) and 51.9 percent from long range (14 of 27). Kevin McClain tossed in 15 points, Mack Mercer scored 11 and Dylan Windler snagged 14 rebounds, nearly half of the Bruins' total for the game.
Morgan Means, Jordan Hill and reserve Matej Kavas each scored 15 to pace the Redhawks (2-3).
Hill scored five during a 10-0 run that saw Seattle U take a 32-28 lead, but Belmont closed on a 13-4 run for a 41-36 lead at halftime.
The Redhawks pulled within 54-51 on a Josh Hearlihy layup midway through the second half, but McClain had a 3-point play, Luke buried a 3 and Tyler Hadden threw down a dunk to stretch the lead to 62-51 and the Bruins stayed comfortably ahead down the stretch.
