The Maryland basketball team had one of the most memorable campaigns in recent history a season ago.

On Monday, the Big Ten Conference announced that the Big Ten Network will televised 11 Maryland games throughout the 2016-17 season.

The Terrapins begin the season with an exhibition game against Catawba College (N.C.) on Nov. 5. Catawba College is where former Maryland quarterback Danny O’Brien played his final year of eligibility in 2013.

The regular season begins on Nov. 11 when Maryland hosts nearby American. The game is scheduled to be televised at 7 p.m.

BTN will broadcast three more of Maryland’s nonconference games. The Terps will host Stony Brook (Nov. 22), Oklahoma State (Dec. 3), and Saint Peter’s (Dec. 10) in games that will also be televised by the network.

The first conference game on BTN will take place on New Year’s Day when Maryland plays host to Nebraska. The Terps will also face Minnesota (twice), Northwestern, Penn State, and Rutgers (twice) on the Big Ten’s flagship network.

Maryland is expected to be in the thick of the race for the Big Ten regular season title. It was originally thought to be a rebuilding year in Mark Turgeon’s sixth season in College Park after the depatures of Robert Carter, Jake Layman, Diamond Stone, and Rasheed Sulaimon.

Guard Melo Trimble took it down to the wire to decide whether or not he would keep his name in the NBA Draft pool. However, Trimble elected to stay for his junior season with the Terps.

Maryland also was able to add forward Justin Jackson late in the process. Jackson had originally signed with UNLV, but a coaching change opened the door for the Terps to secure his services.

Couple that the addition of St. John’s College point guard Anthony Cowan and Duquesne transfer L.G. Gill and this could be a very strong group.
