McKnight leads Arkansas-Pine Bluff over Alabama State 94-68 (Jan 08, 2018)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Martaveous McKnight had 24 points, six rebounds and nine assists on Monday night and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Alabama State 94-68 for its third win in a row.

The Golden Lions (3-14, 3-0 Southwest Athletic Conference) pulled away with a 14-3 run to lead 64-45 on Joe'Randle Toliver's 3-pointer with 8:57 left in the game. The Hornets (2-14, 2-2) got no closer than 16 the rest of the way.

Terrance Banyard added 20 points and nine rebounds, Toliver scored 15 on 5-of-8 shooting from the arc and Travon Harper had 11 points for UAPB.

The Golden Lions scored the first eight points, but the Hornets answered with the next nine and kept it close for the first 15 minutes of the game. UAPB pulled away late in the half and led 43-32 at the break.

Jacoby Ross had 23 points, and Branden Johnson and Rodney Simeon added 12 each for Alabama State. Johnson also grabbed 11 boards.
