Miami Hurricanes Falter in Second Half Loss at Louisville
The Louisville Cardinals used a 13-0 run late in the second half to turn a 53-48 deficit into a 61-53 lead on their way to a 71-66 victory over the Miami Hurricanes Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville.
The Hurricanes scoring drought lasted 4:15. Miami came back with their own 8-0 run to even the score with 1:56 remaining on two Ebuka Izundu free throws.
The Cardinals broke the tie on two Quentin Snider free throws on their next possession to regain the lead. Louisville would not be tied or fall behind again. Snider was playing his first game after missing the previous six with a hip flexor injury.
Snider scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. He hit a huge three over Ja’Quan Newton from about six feet beyond the arc with 42 seconds left to extend the Cardinals lead to 66-61.

The Cardinals were led by Sophomores, guard Donovan Mitchell and forward Deng Adel who came off the bench. Both scored 18. Jaylen Johnson also hit double figures for the Cardinals with ten. Adel and Forward Mangok Mathiang were back after being suspended for Louisville’s loss at Virginia Monday night for missing curfew last Saturday.
Next Game: Miami returns home for the first of two straight and three of their next four at home to face Georgia Tech at the Watsco Center Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets are making a late push for an NCAA Tournament bid under first year coach Josh Pastner.
They are 5-6 in the ACC. Georgia Tech has wins over North Carolina, Notre Dame and Florida State in conference play, but have lost their last two in the ACC. They host Boston College later this afternoon.
