Michigan State Recruiting: 5-star C Brandon McCoy schedules official

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Michigan State recruiting is getting a huge official visit from five-star 2017 center Brandon McCoy on Nov. 18.

Brandon McCoy is one of those big-name recruits who Michigan State fans have been hoping for a visit from in the coming months. Not that he has planned three officials, Michigan State recruiting can rest easy knowing that it got one of them from the five-star center.

News broke via Twitter, but it was reported first on Scout behind a paywall and there are conflicting reports on when he will be in town. Trusted Michigan State recruiting source, Spartan Designs, said he will be in town the 19th of November while others say 18th. Either way, it’s likely an entire weekend visit.

This is big news considering McCoy’s recruitment has been very reserved. Not much has been spoken from his side of things at all and a favorite has yet to be named. Michigan State looks to be in good position with him seeing as he’s from Chicago and Jabari Parker claimed that he’s making sure kids from the Windy City go to Michigan State.

While the weekend of Nov. 18-19 would have been perfect for recruiting before the season, with Ohio State coming to town, now that the football team is struggling, it might be a bloodbath on the gridiron.

Still, McCoy will take in one of the best games of the season for the Spartans and get a feel for what college life would be like in East Lansing.

McCoy is ranked the No. 8 overall 2017 prospect and is listed as a power forward on 247Sports, but he can also play center. He stands 6-foot-10, weighing 200 pounds.

With the lack of depth in the front court, the Spartans could use McCoy in 2017 to go along with Xavier Tillman and Jaren Jackson Jr.
