Minnesota loses 7-footer Stockman as grad transfer

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesota center Matz Stockman will leave the program without playing in a game.

Coach Richard Pitino announced Thursday night that Stockman will graduate early this summer and forgo the upcoming season with the Gophers.

With one year of eligibility remaining, Stockman will be able to play immediately at another school. He sat out the 2017-18 season per NCAA transfer rules after arriving from Louisville. The 7-foot, 240-pound Stockman averaged 2.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 5.3 minutes per game over three years with the Cardinals. He's a native of Oslo, Norway, who will turn 24 on Jan. 30.

Sophomore Eric Curry and freshman Daniel Oturu are in line for the most playing time in the post this season for the Gophers.
