Monmouth uses big 2nd-half run to beat Manhattan 77-66 (Jan 05, 2018)
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) Diago Quinn scored a career-high 19 points, Deion Hammond added 17 and Monmouth beat Manhattan 77-66 on Friday night.
Monmouth trailed 42-40 early in the second half but went on a 17-0 run for a 57-42 lead. Hammond capped the spurt with a 3-pointer and had seven points during the four-minute stretch. Zane Waterman ended the Jaspers' scoring drought at the 10:39 mark.
Austin Tilghman added nine points, 10 assists and five steals for Monmouth (5-10, 1-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). The Hawks shot 56.5 percent from the field and made 21 of 30 free throws.
Monmouth trailed 30-23 late in the first half but Pierre Sarr sparked a 10-0 Monmouth run with four points and it was tied at 33-all at the break.
Rich Williams led Manhattan (7-8, 2-1) with 20 points and seven rebounds. Zavier Turner made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points.
