Montana State goes cold but hangs on to beat Southern Utah (Jan 27, 2018)
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) Tyler Hall had 23 points and eight rebounds on Saturday and Montana State overcame its cold shooting down the stretch to beat Southern Utah 69-66.
The Bobcats (12-10, 5-4 Big Sky) shot 1 of 17 from the field to finish the game. Keljin Blevins' layup with 6:03 left made it 58-54 and was their only field goal over the final 12:41. In the final six minutes, Montana State made 11 of 15 from the foul line to hold its lead and snap a four-game losing streak.
Montana State built its lead with a 13-0 run capped at 56-44 by Hall's 3-pointer with 12:41 left. The Thunderbirds (8-12, 2-7) scored the next 10 points to get within two but got no closer.
Devonte Klines added 12 points and Konner Frey chipped in 11 with 3-of-4 3-point shooting for the Bobcats.
Jamal Aytes had 22 points on 11-of-15 shooting to lead Southern Utah. Jadon Cohee added 13 points and Dwayne Morgan scored 11.
