Morse with 20 points leads Mt. St. Mary's past Wagner 70-56
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) — Vado Morse scored a career-best 20 points as Mount St. Mary's posted its first conference win, beating Wagner 70-56 on Saturday.
Damian Chong Qui added 12 points and four assists for the Mountaineers (4-14, 1-4 Northeast Conference), who snapped a five-game skid. Omar Habwe added 10 points and five rebounds. Jalen Gibbs led the team with six rebounds in addition to his five points.
The Mountaineers led through most of the first half and were up 30-25 at the break. Wagner cut it to 33-32 early in the second but a Morse 3-pointer sparked a 15-7 run that stretched the lead to 48-39 with 10 minutes to play. Dee Barnes' 3-pointer with 8:48 left pushed it to 52-39 and the Mountaineers led by double figures the rest of the way.
Romone Saunders scored 16 points with six rebounds and six assists for the Seahawks (8-8, 3-2). Tim Graham added 10 points and AJ Sumbry and Devin Liggeons had seven rebounds apiece.
