Mount St. Mary's surges past CCSU 78-51 (Jan 06, 2018)

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) Junior Robinson had five 3-pointers and 27 points to help Mount St. Mary's beat Central Connecticut 78-51 on Saturday.

The Mount (8-9, 2-2 Northeast) took control with a 16-2 run capped at 57-40 on Jonah Antonio's back-to-back 3-pointers near the midpoint of the second half. Shakaris Laney briefly stopped the run with a 3 that cut the deficit to 14 for the Blue Devils (8-9, 1-3).

But the Mountaineers rebuilt their lead and steadily extended it to their largest of the game at 78-49 with 1:36 left.

Neither team led by more than five during the first 28 minutes and Central Connecticut had its last lead at 35-34 with 15:30 to go.

Antonio added 18 points on 6-of-11 3-point shooting and Greg Alexander chipped in 15 points. The Mount made 11 of 19 from the arc after the break.

Mustafa Jones had 15 points and Deion Bute scored 11 for the Blue Devils.
