Navy leads wire-to-wire in 68-59 win over Army (Feb 10, 2018)
WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) Shawn Anderson and Evan Weick scored 16 of their combined 25 points in the second half and Tom Lacey finished with 10 points and nine rebounds to help Navy beat Army 68-59 on Saturday.
Anderson finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, Hasan Abdullah scored 11 points and George Kiernan added seven points and eight rebounds for Navy (17-10, 8-6 Patriot League).
Jordan Fox made two free throws and then a 3-pointer to pull Army (13-12, 6-8) within six points with eight minutes to play, but the Black Knights would get no closer. Anderson answered with two foul shots and Abdullah hit a 3 to make it 54-43 with five minutes remaining. Abdullah, Cam Davis and Anderson combined to make 10-of-12 free throws in the final two minutes to seal it.
Fox led Army with 19 points and Luke Morrison scored 16 on 6-of-9 shooting.
Lacey made a layup and then two free throws to give the Midshipmen a 23-9 lead and a 3-pointer by Bryce Dulin pushed the lead to 15-points late in the first half.
Army made a season-low 20 field goals and hit just 12-of-23 (52 percent) free throws.
