New Mexico beats Loyola of Chicago 75-51
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) New Mexico forward Tim Williams scored 22 points with seven rebounds and the Lobos turned in a strong defensive effort Wednesday in a 75-51 win over Loyola-Chicago .
The Lobos (3-0), who never trailed, broke it open early with an 11-0 run, turning a 4-all tie into a 15-4 lead. Loyola (2-1) never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Williams had two layups in the streak and Sam Logwood, who was perfect from the field to finish with 12 points, capped it with a 3-pointer.
The Ramblers were 19-60 from the field, including 7 of 28 in the first half as New Mexico had them doubled up at 38-19 at halftime.
Devon Turk scored 11 to lead Loyola, but he was the only Ramblers player in double figures.
With Logwood going 5 of 5 and Williams 10 of 14, New Mexico finished 29 of 47 from the field. The Lobos were 5 of 13 on 3-pointers.
The Lobos dominated the interior with a 38-25 rebounding advantage, led by Obij Aget with eight. New Mexico's front court outscored Loyola's 42-22 and, although Loyola had a 12-6 offensive boards edge, New Mexico still outscored the Ramblers 8-3.

INJURIES
Doctors treating Lobos forward Devon Williams, who was knocked out, then taken to the hospital in Las Cruces after Sunday's game against New Mexico State, discovered a pre-existing back condition that ended his career, New Mexico coach Craig Neal said.
