Niagara beats Manhattan 55-53 on a last-second putback

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) Justin Satchell came off the bench to score 10 points, but his biggest shot was a tip-in of a missed 3-pointer that lifted Niagara to a last-second 55-53 win over Manhattan on Saturday after the officials determined that a 3-pointer by Manhattan's RaShawn Stores banked through after time expired.

With the game knotted at 53 and less than 30 seconds to go, Manhattan's Rich Williams missed two tries at a basket and Satchell grabbed the rebound. After a timeout, Emile Blackman missed a trey but Satchell grabbed the carom and banged it home for Niagara (5-12, 3-3 Metro Atlantic).

Each team called a timeout before Stores' 3 was ruled too late. Stores had made both of his 3-point attempts to that point. Shane Richards led the Jaspers (6-9, 3-3) with 12 points. Marvin Prochet scored 12 for Niagara.

The contest saw seven ties and eight lead changes.
