No timetable for Tum Tum Nairn's return

Michigan State has barely played with its full roster this season.

The Spartans, who jumped out to a 13-0 start, are 1-2 since Denzel Valentine returned from a minor knee procedure that sidelined him for four games.

The latest loss came on Sunday, a 77-76 upset at Wisconsin. It also came with another Michigan State starter on the bench.

Lourawls 'Tum Tum' Nairn is suffering from plantar fasciitis and there is no timetable for his return, according to Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press.

“It doesn’t hurt like it used to, all night,” Nairn said Monday of his right foot, which started getting painful last season and even more intensely during the summer. “But I can still feel it, though.”

Nairn is averaging 4.1 points and 4.5 assists per game. Matt McQuaid replaced Nairn in the starting five against the Badgers.

The Spartans, who have fallen outside the top 10 in the Associated Press poll, host Nebraska on Wednesday night.
