Notre Dame vs Green Bay: Irish Barely Escape Phoenix
Notre Dame came much closer than they would have liked to in their game against Green Bay.

The Irish’s first-half shooting troubles turned into a tightly contested game late in the fourth quarter, as Notre Dame barely edged Green Bay.
Leading by 11 at the half, the Irish looked to be in a pretty good spot heading into the second half of the game. However, momentum shifted early in the fourth as the Phoenix worked their way to within six within less than five minutes remaining.
Luckily, the Irish were able to sustain the lead long enough to force Green Bay to foul, ending the game 71-67.
Notre Dame’s struggles had a lot to do with their lack of rebounding. Jessica Lindstorm dominated the glass for the Phoenix, finishing with 16 rebounds and 20 points. Lindstorm seemed to cause a lot of problems for the Irish. Each play it appeared that she was able to get her hands on the ball and score, whether off a rebound or by forcing her way to the basket.
Sophomore sensation, Arike Ogunbowale was able to finish with 18 points and three steals as she lead the Irish to a tight-knit victory.
The story wasn’t about Notre Dame’s scoring, though. The Irish’s leading rebounder, Kathryn Westbeld claimed eight boards during the night. Against Lindstorm, Westbeld seemed to be way off her game on both ends of the floor.
Notre Dame is going to need to fix their rebounding issues quick if they want to maintain their top overall ranking. With their second close game of the season, the Irish could be in trouble for the road ahead. With UConn just five games away, the Irish don’t have much time to fix their problems.
If the Irish want to take advantage of their explosive offense, they’re going to need to be able to work off the glass. Before UConn on December 7, the Irish will need to have their post play 100% fixed.
Notre Dame will play UL Lafayette next on November 22. This will be their first chance to bounce back from a slow start to the 2016-2017 season.
