Nottingham scores 5 3-pointers, Texas State rallies 80-62
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Tre Nottingham scored 24 points and Nijal Pearson added 19 as Texas State roared past Little Rock 80-62 with a scorching second half Thursday night.
Trailing by a point at the break, Texas State (15-3, 4-1 Sun Belt) scored 50 points in the second half, shooting 64 percent from the floor (16 of 25) and 58 percent from distance (7 of 12). With the win, Texas State matched its win total from all of last season.
Nottingham scored 18 after halftime, including 4 for 4 from behind the 3-point arc, and Pearson scored nine. Nottingham finished 5 of 8 from 3-point distance, his second straight game with five treys.
Rayjon Tucker led Little Rock (7-11, 2-3) with 18 points and three steals, Deondre Burns added 14 points and Markquis Nowell 13. The Trojans lost for the first time in three games.
Eric Terry, 11 points, scored in the paint to give Texas State a 40-38 lead and sparked a 15-0 run that included 3-pointers from Nottingham, Alex Peacock and Pearson to put the game away.
