Nunez leads FIU past Florida Memorial 108-67
UNIVERSITY PARK, Fla. (AP) — Willy Nunez Jr. sank six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 22 points to lead six players in double figures as Florida International rolled to a 108-67 victory over NAIA-member Florida Memorial on Thursday night.
Devon Andrews finished with 19 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Golden Panthers (9-3), who are off to the best start in program history. Brian Beard Jr. pitched in with 17 points and six assists, while Trejon Jacob and reserves Marcus Burwell and Isaiah Banks all scored 10.
FlU shot 51 percent from the floor and 39 percent (14 of 36) from beyond the arc. The Panthers also made 20 of 29 free throws, while Florida Memorial sank 3 of 6. Osasumwen Osaghae had four of FIU's eight blocked shots. The Panthers came into the game averaging 98.7 points per game at home.
Omar Outar hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 with five assists for the Lions. Eugene Harvey III added 12 points and nine rebounds.
