Ohio State head coach Thad Matta brought in a five-man freshman class, one of the best in nation, but one is still waiting to be cleared as the season approaches.

On Tuesday, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith announced that forward Mickey Mitchell had not yet been cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center to play this season. Currently, he is allowed to practice with the team.

The 6-foot-7 Mitchell is a gifted passer for his size, and was be looked at as a player who could run the Buckeye offense, according to Bill Landis of Cleveland.com:

"One guy that can play the point is Mickey Mitchell," Matta said at media day. "With his size and just his understanding of the game, if we need him to do that, and we could definitely use it. It makes us a very big basketball team." .
