Old Dominion's home streak hits 32; beats Charlotte 74-65

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Trey Freeman scored 21 points, Aaron Bacote added 18 and Old Dominion opened Conference USA play on Saturday with a 74-65 win over Charlotte.

The Monarchs (8-6) held the 49ers (3-10) to 19 points in the first half while Freeman and Bacote combined for 22 points for a 13-point lead.

Old Dominion shot 51.4 percent (18 of 35) in the second half to easily stretch its home winning streak to 32 - fifth longest in the nation.

Andrien White hit 8 of 12 3-pointers and scored 27 points, all career bests for the 49ers freshman. Joseph Uchebo had 15 points. White had 22 in the second half when Charlotte shot 52 percent. But after falling behind by 21 with 11:21 to play, the final score was as close as it would get.

Old Dominion outrebounded Charlotte 41-28 with Denzell Taylor grabbing 13.

The 49ers had 12 turnovers the Monarchs turned into 21 points.
