Penn holds off Dartmouth 64-61, remains undefeated in Ivy (Feb 09, 2018)
HANOVER, N.H. (AP) AJ Brodeur had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Pennsylvania closed on a 13-6 surge and held off Dartmouth 64-61 on Friday night for its fifth straight win.
Penn (17-6, 7-0) remains alone atop the Ivy League standings, and travels to second-place Harvard (11-11, 6-1) on Saturday. Dartmouth (4-16, 0-7) has lost 10 straight, including four of its last five by single digits.
Darnell Foreman added 15 points for the Quakers. Ryan Betley made 7 of 8 free throws and finished with 12 points.
Miles Wright scored 16 points to lead five in double-digit scoring for Dartmouth, which shot just 28 percent from the floor (17 of 61), but made 21 of 24 (87.5 percent) of its free throws.
Brendan Barry made a 3-pointer and Dartmouth had a 55-51 lead with 4:37 remaining, but the Big Green didn't hit another field goal until Taylor Johnson's 3-pointer pulled them to 61-59 with 11 seconds left. Betley made six free throws and Brodeur added four points during the stretch.
Betley made another free throw with 7.9 seconds left then the teams traded two free throws before Penn's Max Rothschild forced a turnover at midcourt to end the game.
