Peter Jok to return for senior season at Iowa

Peter Jok had a strong junior season at Iowa and declared for the NBA Draft after being a second-team All-Big Ten selection. But after it became clear that he would go undrafted, the university issued a statement confirming he'd return to play for the Hawkeyes.

"I'm excited to be returning for my senior season and leading our team," Jok said in a statement. "This has been an invaluable learning experience for my career, and I appreciate all the support I have received from Coach McCaffery and the entire staff."

"The entire experience has been beneficial to Peter in assessing where he stands heading into his final college season," Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said in a statement. "He has learned a great deal in regard to this process and his experience will prove valuable a year from now. We are excited that Peter will be a part of our team in the coming season and we anticipate his senior leadership playing a key role for us."

Jok was weighing his options, but this news shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. More than 70 players were invited to the NBA's Draft Combine, yet Jok was left off the list. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 16.1 points per game last season on a Hawkeyes team that went 22-12 and made it to the NCAA Tournament's second round.
