Polk-Hilliard leads Grambling past Jarvis Christian 105-68

GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Dallas Polk-Hilliard scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and Grambling beat NAIA member Jarvis Christian 105-68 on Friday night.

In its season opener, Grambling raced out to a 7-1 advantage after a dunk by DeVante Jackson with 17:27 left in the first half. After a bucket by Christian 14 seconds later, the Tigers used a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 16-3 lead after a layup by Prince Moss. Grambling led 45-24 at the break after shooting 17 of 33 from the floor. The Tigers finished shooting 58.3 percent.

Polk-Hilliard was 8-of-13 shooting and Lasani Johnson came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and had five rebounds. Ivy Smith, Jr. and Anthony Gaston each added 11 points.

Chasten King led three Jarvis Christian players in double figures with 17 points. Jaewon Newton chipped in with 13 points and seven boards, while Dalyn Mumphrey tallied 10 points and nine rebounds.
