Princeton seizes control late, beats Yale 66-58 (Jan 14, 2017)
PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) Myles Stephens scored 19 points, added seven rebounds, and Princeton found enough breathing room over the final three minutes to beat Yale 66-58 on Saturday night.
Amir Bell finished with 17 points and Steven Cook added 11 for the Tigers (10-6, 3-0 Ivy League), who have won 12 straight league games at home, their longest since winning 21 consecutive from 2010-2013.
Yale's Alex Copeland hit a jumper to give the Bulldogs the lead, 53-52, with 3:04 left. But from there Princeton seized control, outscoring the Bulldogs 14-5 to seal the win. Bell finished a 3-point play just eight seconds after Copeland's layup which gave the lead back to Princeton and sparked an 11-0 Tigers run.
Copeland hit a 3 to get Yale back to 65-58, but it was too late to make a serious run.
Copeland scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs (9-6, 1-1). Jordan Bruner added 15 for Yale. S
