Providence adds to front court depth with late addition

Published Jun. 11, 2015 11:23 a.m. ET

Providence had to say goodbye to three seniors this offseason, one of which was major contributor Tyler Harris, who has moved on to Auburn as a graduate student.

They also lost Paschal Chukwu from last year's NCAA Tournament team, a 7-foot-2 center that was a defensive stalwart in his lone year with the Friars.

Finally, there was some good news for head coach Ed Cooley yesterday. He received a commitment from power forward Quadree Smith, who becomes the fifth member of the Friars’ 2015 recruiting class.

News of Smith’s commitment was first announced by IMG Academy, where he finished his high school career.. The 6-foot-8 forward joins guards Drew Edwards and Ricky Council and forwards Ryan Fazekas and Alex Owens in Providence’s recruiting class.
