Report: ISU snags JUCO standout Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson verbally committed to Iowa State on Sunday, he told Scout.
"I just think it’s the best situation for me and my family," Jackson said. "I love the coaches there. I think that situation would be a great fit for me and they have a great playing style."
Jackson, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard out Iowa Western JC, chose Iowa State over significant interest from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Mississippi and UNLV.
Iowa State hosted Jacked for an unofficial visit in early August.
"I’ve been kind of knowing that I wanted to go there," he said. "I would just love to play for Iowa State. Now I have that opportunity and I didn’t know want to pass on it."
Jackson, who starred at Milwaukee (Wisc.) Pius Xi in high school, averaged 13.6 points a game and hit 66 of his 164 three-point attempts last season at Iowa Western.
"Offensively, I think it's going to be perfect," Jackson said. "Coach [Steve] Prohm's last two point guards averaged 20 points a game. I think I can fit in and add a lot of assists as well."
