Report: Michigan State forward likely won't be back until Big Ten play

Published Dec. 15, 2015 1:01 p.m. ET

Michigan State has risen to No. 1 in the polls, and that's without the services of one of its starters from last year's Final Four team.

Gavin Schilling, the junior forward, has missed the first 11 games of the season due to a toe injury. According to Kyle Austin of MLive.com, the 6-foot-9 Schilling likely won't be back until after Christmas, meaning his season debut -- at the earliest -- would be against Iowa on Dec. 28 in the Big Ten opener.

Schilling started in 33 of 39 games for the Spartans last year, averaging 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game.
