Sacramento State edges Abilene Christian 88-86 in double OT (Dec 17, 2016)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Justin Strings scored 22 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, to help Sacramento State edge Abilene Christian 88-86 in double overtime Saturday night.

Strings, who finished with five 3-pointers, hit the go-ahead trey with 47 seconds left in the second extra period to give Sacramento State an 84-82 lead. Marcus Graves and Strings each got a pair of free throws down the stretch to pad the advantage as Abilene Christian twice cut the gap to two in the final 13 seconds.

Eric Stuteville scored 22 points for the Hornets (3-7) and hauled in 11 rebounds to get his first double-double of the season. Graves finished with 21 points.

Strings forced overtime with a 3-pointer that tied the game at 70 at the end of regulation. Abilene Christian (6-4) then forced the second OT with a 3-pointer from Jaren Lewis just ahead of the buzzer to knot it at 76-all.

Jaylen Franklin's 20 points led five Abilene Christian players in double figures.
