Sacred Heart pulls away from St. Francis Brooklyn 80-65 (Feb 09, 2017)

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Quincy McKnight scored 25 points, hitting all three of his shots from long range, to lead Sacred Heart to an 80-65 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night.

Mario Matasovic added 19 points to go with eight rebounds and Matej Buovac had 11 points for Sacred Heart, which shot 51 percent from the field, including a season-high 59 percent from 3-point range (10-17).

Sacred Heart (11-15, 6-7 Northeastern Conference) took control with a 13-3 run in the first half that included a 3-pointer from Buovac and made it 34-23 with just over 2 1/2 minutes left before the break. The Pioneers then opened the second half by hitting four of its first six 3-pointers to stretch their advantage to 52-38 with 15:20 left to play and held on from there.

St. Francis Brooklyn (4-22, 2-11) was led by Yunus Hopkinson, who finished with a career-high 34 points, including six 3-pointers.
