Saint Joseph's wins 2nd straight, sweeps Fordham, 71-55 (Feb 14, 2018)
NEW YORK (AP) James Demery and Shavar Newkirk combined to score 39 points to help power Saint Joseph's to a second straight win, 71-55 over Fordham in an Atlantic 10 contest on Wednesday night.
The Hawks ended their five-game losing streak Saturday and completed a season-sweep of Fordham.
Saint Joe's limited the Rams to just 19 points in the first half and took an 18-point advantage into intermission.
Demery finished with 20 points and grabbed six rebounds and Newkirk scored 19, grabbed six boards and dished seven assists. Pierfrancesco Oliva and Chris Clover each added 10 points. The Hawks (11-14, 6-7) shot 48.2 percent from the field and collected 18 assists on 27 made baskets.
Fordham (9-16, 4-9) finished shooting 43.1 percent from the field (22 of 51). Cavit Havsa finished with 12 points and dished eight assists for the Rams. David Pekarek and Ivan Raut added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
