Sam Houston State beats Incarnate Word 85-74 (Jan 06, 2018)

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Marcus Harris scored 16 points and Sam Houston State beat Incarnate Word 85-74 on Saturday for the Cardinals' fifth straight loss.

John Dewey III added 13 points with eight assists for Sam Houston State (8-8, 2-1 Southland Conference). Abrian Edwards, Josh Boutte, Jamal Williams and Josh Delaney scored 10 points apiece.

The Bearkats trailed by seven at halftime, but tied it at 62 on Williams' layup with 8:16 to play. Delaney hit three straight 3s and the Bearkats led 73-64 after Cameron Delaney's 3 with 6:03 left. The Cardinals closed to 80-74 on Sam Burmeister's 3-point play, but the Bearkats scored five unanswered points in the final 1:52.

Sam Houston State made 26 free throws and 27 of 52 field goals (51.9 percent).

Charles Brown III scored 21 points, Burmeister added 16 and Cody Graham had 15 for the Cardinals (5-8, 0-3).
