Samford beats crosstown foe Miles 104-76

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Darius Jones-Gibson scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half and Samford cruised past crosstown-foe Miles College 104-76 Tuesday night.

Jones-Gibson scored the first four points of the game as Samford jumped out to a 15-1 lead. Miles, an NCAA Division II member, went scoreless again for nearly four minutes and trailed 33-10 with seven minutes left in the half.

Samford doubled up Miles at halftime, 54-27, in its final non-conference outing of the season.

Matt Rose led Samford (9-4) with 16 points, nine coming in the second half. Marcus Johnson made three of Samford's 11 3-pointers and scored 13 points with seven assists. Iman Johnson had 10 points and nine rebounds as the Bulldogs outrebounded Miles 50-39.

Maiscei Grier made three 3-pointers and scored 18 points for Miles, which turned it over 20 times in its third straight loss.
