San Diego pulls away from Cal State Northridge 80-63

SAN DIEGO (AP) Vasa Pusica scored a career-high 17 points as San Diego steadily pulled away from Cal State Northridge 80-63 Wednesday night, hitting a record 15 3-pointers.

Pusica, a 6-foot-5 sophomore from Serbia, shot 6-for-8 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers. Olin Carter III added 12 points - all on 3-pointers - while Duda Sanadze and Brett Bailey added 11 apiece for San Diego (5-6).

Bailey hit a 3-pointer to give the Toreros a 9-7 lead they never relinquished. His trey started an 8-2 spurt - Carter adding a 3-pointer and Pusica a layup - for San Diego, which went on to a 38-26 halftime lead.

The Toreros put together a 15-2 run early in the second half, holding the Matadors (4-8) to one basket over nearly five minutes, for a 58-33 lead.

San Diego has won five of its last six games.

Micheal Warren scored 20 for Northridge, Jerron Wilbut 15.
