Seton Hall defeats Rutgers 84-55

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Khadeen Carrington scored a game-high 18 points and Isaiah Whitehead scored 13 points to lead Seton Hall past Rutgers 84-55 in the annual Garden State Hardwood Classic on Saturday.

Angel Delgado notched 14 points and 13 rebounds to earn the Joe Calabrese MVP award.

Mike Williams led Rutgers (3-5) with 16 points while Corey Sanders contributed six assists and scored 14.

Rutgers led 16-10 with 14:35 left in the first half on a 3-pointer by Williams, then led 20-11 after a layup by Sanders, assisted by Bishop Daniels, capped a 12-3 run.

Things started to go south for Rutgers from there.

Down 27-26 with just over seven minutes left in the first half, Seton Hall went on a 20-6 run and led 47-34 at halftime.

Carrington made a 3-pointer assisted by Michael Nzei to start the run.

Seton Hall pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 29 and outscoring the Scarlet Knights 37-21. The largest lead of the game came on a 3-pointer by Dalton Soffer with 1:04 left.

Nzei scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Seton Hall (6-2).

After starting the season 3-1, Rutgers has lost four straight. Coach Eddie Jordan is now 0-3 against the in-state rival.

TIP-INS

Rutgers: Junior Deshawn Freeman missed the game with a sore knee. The junior college transfer is expected to be out for two weeks.

Seton Hall: Ismael Sanogo dislocated his shoulder in Seton Hall's loss at George Washington and won't play against Troy on December 10.
