Seton Hall's Whitehead, Marquette's Ellenson earn Big East weekly honors
Isaiah Whitehead led Seton Hall to back-to-back victories, which helped earn him Big East Player of the Week honors.
The 6-foot-4 sophomore guard posted 22 points, shooting 4-of-6 from three, and recording six assists on Saturday in a 75-65 victory over Creighton. He began the week with 19 points as Seton Hall rolled past St. John's. The consecutive wins move the Pirates into fifth place in the Big East standings, as they continue to push for the program's first NCAA Tournament since 2006.
On the season, Whitehead is averaging 16.0 points and 4.5 assists per game.
Henry Ellenson has all but locked up the Big East Freshman of the Year award, earning the weekly honor for the fifth time this season.
The Marquette forward dropped a season-best 32 points in Saturday's win over Butler. It also marked the 13th time he has recorded a double-double.
Whitehead's Pirates host Ellenson's Golden Eagles on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. on FS1.
