Soaring Slovenian: Martin Krampelj wins Creighton dunk contest

Published Oct. 17, 2015 9:13 p.m. ET

With the Slovenian flag draped around his neck, Creighton freshman forward Martin Krampelj took three dribbles from half court before jumping over teammate Tyler Clement for the two-handed dunk.

That patriotic slam would send Krampelj into the finals, where he would defeat fellow freshman Khyri Thomas to win the Bluejay Madness slam dunk contest on Saturday night.

Malik Albert and Justin Patton, two more newcomers to the program, also competed in the dunk contest.

The 6-foot-9 Krampelj joins the Blujays following a post graduate year at Impact Academy in Florida. During Creighton's trip to Italy this past August, Krampelj averaged 12.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
