South Carolina State defeats North Carolina Central 91-75

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) Ed Stephens scored 23 points and South Carolina State defeated North Carolina Central 91-75 on Saturday.

Stephens was 7 of 12 from the floor and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Tashombe Riley scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, as the Bulldogs (7-10, 2-1 Mid-Eastern) shot over 63 percent overall and made 12 of 22 3-point attempts. Gabe McCray added 15 points and Eric Eaves had 13.

N.C. Central (6-11, 1-2) was led by Patrick Cole with 24 points. Jeremiah Ingram scored 12 points and Dante Holmes added 10.

A 9-2 run early - all 3-pointers - helped S.C. State build a 41-31 lead at intermission. The Bulldogs were lights out in the second half, hitting 19 of 27 shots (70.4 percent) to score 50 points in the frame. S.C. State generated 27 points off 19 N.C. Central turnovers.
