South Carolina State edges Jacksonville 81-74

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) Ed Stephens scored 14 points in a balanced attack and South Carolina State edged Jacksonville 81-74 on Saturday.

Gabe McCray, Darryl Palmer and Eric Eaves all scored 13 points for the Bulldogs (5-5). Tashombe Riley had 12 points and Luka Radovic added 10. Palmer grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Ty Soloman contributed nine assists.

Kori Babineaux scored 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting for Jacksonville (4-6). Marcel White had 13 points with eight boards, Darien Fernandez scored 11 points and Darius Dawkins added 10, despite shooting 2 of 11, including 1 of 8 from beyond the arc.

South Carolina State held a 47-33 advantage on the boards.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 17 in the second half. Jacksonville trimmed it to three with 1:46 left on a layup by Babineaux, but South Carolina State made 7 of 8 from the line to ice it.
