St. Bonaventure keeps rolling, beats UMass 88-77

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) Jaylen Adams scored 24 points and St. Bonaventure continued its best start in 16 years with an 88-77 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday.

Adams made 3 of 4 3-point attempts and 11 of 13 free throws for the Bonnies (11-3, 3-0 Atlantic 10), who shot 60 percent, were 10 of 18 from 3-point range and made 22 of 25 free throws. Dion Wright added 19 points and Marcus Posley 15. Those three have provided the bulk of the Bonnies' offense, combining to average nearly 52 points a game.

The Bonnies won their fourth straight game. They started 12-2 in the 1999-2000 season.

Adams sank two free throws and a 3-pointer late in the first half for a 41-36 lead. Posley's 3-pointer made it a 19-point lead with seven minutes left and UMass didn't get closer than nine after that.

Donte Clark led the Minutemen (8-7, 1-2) with 25 points.
