St. Joseph beats Old Dominion 66-64 at Tip-Off classic

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) Shavar Newkirk scored 10 points, including the last-second game-winner as St. Joseph's rallied past Old Dominion 66-64 in the consolation game of the Naismith Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament on Sunday.

The final 3:21 saw three ties and three lead changes as the teams battled down the stretch.

Isaiah Miles led St. Joseph's (4-1) with 18 points - scoring in double figures all five games this season. DeAndre' Bembry added 15 points with 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. The Hawks blocked 10 shots, four by Bembry.

The Monarchs (3-2) tied at 64-64 with 14 seconds remaining when Aaron Bacote made a pair of free throws. Bacote finished with 9 points, 7-for-7 from the line.

Trey Freeman scored 15 points with eight rebounds, and Zoran Talley scored 12 points.

Denzell Taylor scored four of his five points in the final 2:32, each time giving Old Dominion a 1-point lead.
