Stanford forward Reid Travis to miss remainder of the season
Stanford announced that sophomore forward Reid Travis will miss the remainder of the season with a stress fracture in his left leg that has kept him out of action since mid-December.
“We want the best for Reid,” Stanford head coach Johnny Dawkins said in a statement. “He played a big role for us during his time on the court earlier this season and we have missed his presence in our lineup these last two months. Reid’s health is most important, however, and both he and I are in agreement that it is best to avoid more serious injury by not returning to the court before he is fully healthy. We wish him all the best as he continues his rehabilitation and look forward to having him back to full health as a major contributor for us next season.”
The program will apply for a medical redshirt on Travis' behalf. In order to obtain a medical redshirt, a player must appear in less than 30 percent of his team's games before suffering an incapacitating injury. The Minneapolis native appeared in only eight contests this year.
The 6-foot-8 forward missed nine contests as a freshman stress fracture.
Travis was averaging 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
