Stark, Murray St. beat Austin Peay, win outright OVC title (Feb 25, 2018)
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Jonathan Stark scored 20 of his 31 points in the second half, the game was delayed for more than three hours due to a leaky roof, and Murray State rallied from 14 down to earn an outright Ohio Valley Conference regular season title with a 73-64 win over Austin Peay on Saturday night.
The game was delayed with 5:11 left in the second half due to roof damage from a storm in the area causing water to leak onto the court. One person in attendance was hit in the head by the debris and was taken by ambulance to the hospital, according to Bill Persinger, a spokesman for Austin Peay.
It was Stark's fourth game this season with at least 30 points. Ja Morant added 16 points and eight rebounds, Shaq Buchanan scored 10 and Terrell Miller Jr. had eight points and 12 rebounds for the Racers (24-5, 16-2).
After shooting 30.4 percent from the field in the first half and trailing by 14 at the break, Murray State made 15 of its first 18 shots in the second half and outscored Austin Peay (17-13, 12-6) 39-14 during that stretch.
The Racers took their first lead at 43-42 and led 62-53 when the game was delayed. Austin Peay trailed by at least seven the rest of the way.
Terry Taylor led the Governors with 24 points, including five 3-pointers. Averyl Ugba scored 12 and grabbed 12 rebounds.
