Stephen F. Austin tops Appalachian St., 94-84 in Music City

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Thomas Walkup scored 24 points and Ty Charles added 22 and Stephen F. Austin won for the second time in three games at the Challenge in Music City tournament, beating Appalachian State 94-84 Sunday.

At 178 combined points, it was the highest scoring game in the tournament's history.

With two wins in Nashville, the Lumberjacks even their season record at 3-3.

Walkup shot 11 of 14 from the field and Charles was 8 of 12 as Stephen F. Austin shot a crisp 62.5 percent from the field (35 of 56) and 5 of 16 from distance.

Frank Eaves scored 19 points and Ronshad Shabazz and Chris Burgess each added 18 to lead the Mountaineers (2-5), who outshot Stephen F. Austin (67.4 percent on 31-o-46 shooting, but were held to 10 fewer attempts by the Lumberjacks' defense.

Appalachian State plays Hofstra Sunday in the Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival.
